Dr. Matthew Hicks, a board certified orthopedic surgeon, has been a member of FWO since 1997. He enjoys treating a wide variety of orthopedic conditions involving trauma, sports medicine and arthritis.
Dr. Hicks is available to assist in the care of patients with isolated and multiple fractures. For patients who struggle to heal, Dr. Hicks performs surgeries for nonunions and malunions and corrects extremity deformities. He is the Orthopedic Director of the Lutheran Level 2 Trauma Center.
In addition, he helps weekend warriors return to active lifestyles with arthroscopic surgery.
As many athletes age, they develop arthritic joints despite excellent medical care. When arthritic changes progress and interfere with activities of daily living, joint replacement can restore function and decrease pain. Dr. Hicks performs partial and total knee replacements and specializes in the new minimally invasive anterior total hip arthroplasty.
Dr. Hicks, a Snider High School graduate, attended the University of Saint Francis followed by the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed an orthopedic residency and one-year orthopedic trauma fellowship. Dr. Hicks is a member of the USF Athletic Hall of Fame. He has been married to his wife, Lisa, for over 20 years and has three daughters. He enjoys running, biking and coaching his daughters in their athletic pursuits. He actively participates in mission work and is a member of the Jesus in Haiti Ministries Board of Directors.
